Digital Innovation

From broken roads to economic opportunities through innovation — digital solutions for fragile environments.

01

Geo-Coded Monitoring Dashboard

KP Rural Accessibility Project (KPRAP) is implemented across challenging terrains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, characterized by climate shocks, remoteness, and security constraints. To overcome monitoring challenges, the Project Implementation Unit, with technical support from the World Bank, developed a geo-coded dashboard to enable real-time progress tracking from the field.

The dashboard supports remote supervision covering:

  • Progress of works
  • Quality of civil works
  • Payments and contractor performance
  • Environmental and social safeguards
  • Grievance redress mechanisms

Digital Workflow & Transparency

Traditionally time and resource-intensive paper-based monitoring systems have been replaced with geo-tagged digital workflows, enabling efficient and accurate data collection.

This transformation has significantly improved:

  • Transparency and accountability
  • Reduction in leakages and duplication
  • Operational efficiency
  • Lower logistical and administrative costs

Integrated Safeguards & Gender Systems

The dashboard integrates a GBV service directory, functioning as a live database of service providers, strengthening the project’s capacity for social risk management and referral preparedness.

This innovation demonstrates how digitization supports gender-sensitive and responsive safeguards in fragile and hard-to-reach environments.

Scale, Impact & Replicability

The dashboard is the first of its kind in KP, tracking approximately 71 line items across 80 road sections on a monthly basis.

It also monitors payments to 24 contractors and manages transport services for ~1,800 drivers serving ~14,000 girls across 142 schools.

Built on Power BI, this system provides a scalable and replicable model for future operations in fragile and conflict-affected contexts across the province.
