Advancing Dignity and Accountability

Creating safe and respectful workplaces is not just a policy commitment—it requires action. In line with this belief, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Accessibility Project (KP-RAP) organized a series of sensitization and capacity-building activities to strengthen awareness and accountability against workplace harassment across its partner organizations.
The initiative focused on breaking silence, addressing stigma, and ensuring that everyone understands their rights and responsibilities under the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010.
During the sessions, representatives from 16 contractors, the Supervisory Firm, and the KP-RAP Project Office were sensitized on legal obligations, ethical conduct, and the importance of creating respectful work environments—particularly for women working in the field and offices.
A key milestone of the event was the official notification of the Inquiry Committee by the C&W Department, reinforcing KP-RAP’s commitment to institutional accountability. Encouragingly, contractors also stepped forward to establish their own Inquiry Committees, ensuring harassment complaints can be addressed promptly and transparently.
Specialized training sessions were conducted for Inquiry Committee members, covering:
  • What constitutes workplace harassment
  • Personal boundaries, consent, and respectful behavior
  • Safe and confidential reporting mechanisms
  • Roles and responsibilities under the 2010 Act
In addition, comprehensive Anti-Harassment and Work Ethics training was delivered to field and office staff, promoting a culture of respect and zero tolerance for misconduct.
Event Outcome:
The activity strengthened accountability systems, improved awareness of employee rights, and helped foster safer, more dignified workplaces across KP-RAP partner organizations.
KP-RAP reiterates its message: Harassment must be confronted—not ignored.
